Out of the Box
Planted by Irish Tinker & Rosie Bunny
9/5/03
This series highlights 4 people who were known for thinking outside the box and lived in a less than conventional way. To figure out the clues you will have to solve 4 puzzles (trivia, word scramble, ubbi dubbi, and a mix of all three).
From Rte 198 turn onto Chaplin St. Turn onto Tower Hill Road. Follow for two miles. Stay to the right and it turns into Bujak Road. A sign for Bernard Church Woods is on the right hand side of the road. It can be hard to see. There is room to pull over and park here.
Box 1
Unscramble the following words and fill in blanks.
eadd etre fsenr pworekodce liatr
lalw reginf loywel rernoc
Walk over stonewall and follow the _______ trail. Turn right and walk through another wall. There are a lot of _____ on the _____. Step over a ______ _____. You will see a ______ tree on the right. You will pass a tree with a broken middle _____. At the _____ take a reading of 180*. In the ______ is box 1.
Box 2
Answer the following trivia questions.
1)How many stitches are in a baseball?
2)In what year was the town of Chaplin granted town status?
3)How many movies did James Stewart & Alfred Hitchcock make together?
4)How many movies did Cary Grant & Alfred Hitchcock make together?
5)How many humps does a Bactrian Camel have?
6) What is the speed limit in school zones?
7)What year did Under The Sea win the Academy Award for Best Original Song?
8) What year did the U.S. Navy aquire it's first submarine?
Start at the tree with _____ (insert answer to #5) blazes on it.
Take _____ (insert answer to #1 and remove the middle # keeping only the first and last #. So if the answer was 123 insert 13) paces to a stump.
Take a reading of _____* (insert answer to #6 adding 5 to the answer) and go to a stump with an odd tree to it's right.
Take a reading of ____* (insert only the last two #s of #7) and take 10 paces to a sort of square flat rock.
Take a reading of 90* and take _____ (insert only the last two #s to #2 and add 3) paces to a leaning rock.
Take a reading of 140* to a pile of rocks near a fallen tree.
Here you will find box 2.
Box 3
To find box 3 you must translate the language of ubbi dubbi. If you have a school aged child who likes a certain show on PBS you probably already know about ubbi dubbi.

Turn left and follow the yellow dots. Very soon there's a stonewall pen of some sort on the right. Maybe for farm animals years ago? When your trail becomes paved turn left. I thought there was a problem with the clues when I noticed the
answer to trivia question #8 wasn't used. I actually just got back
from getting all four of the series - pretty cool! Nice stamps!
Watch out for the spider webs though, they're EVERYWHERE!!
